In this section you will find ideal products to accompany everyday dinners or important events with style and elegance.

Not everyone must know the meaning of the "Organic wines" nomenclature

The European Regulation 203/2012, published in the official EU gazette on March 9, 2012, has finally made it possible to regularize the organic wine sector, after several years of controversy.

The legislation establishes new rules, regarding the production of organic wine products, also outlining the methods of winemaking, approved by the Standing Committee on Organic Farming (SCOF), the Standing Committee for organic agriculture.

The new legislation also allows for the European logo to be shown on the label for companies certified by an authorized body.

The contents of the regulation provide for a number of restrictions in the use of certain oenological practices and adjuvant substances during the winemaking phase.

An organic producer can use about half the number of adjuvants that a conventional producer can use by regulation.

The amount of sulfur in organic wines was one of the most debated topics in Italy, with the final decision by the EU of limits not accepted by many Italian winemakers, because they were considered too high. We must remember that the climatic conditions of our country make it possible to produce wines with amounts of sulphites that are on average lower than producers from across the Alps.

The approved regulation has set the total sulfur limits for dry organic red wines to a maximum of 100 mg / l, while for dry whites it will be a maximum of 150 mg / l.

What has been said so far, allows us to define "organic" wine only when:

in the vineyard: organic grapes are produced, grown without the help of synthetic chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, pesticides in general) and without the use of genetically modified organisms;

in the cellar: vinification is carried out using only the oenological products and processes authorized by regulation 203/2012 (list in Annex VIII bis).

In any case, the producing wine company requires a certification of conformity from a certifying body.

Certainly, within the limits and provisions imposed by the regulations, each certified organic producer will follow their own specific conduct, using the oenological practices that are closest to the personal concept of "sustainable agriculture".

So forget the worry of running from one shop to another, but get used to saving time for the really important things and, living a sensory experience.
